2. Johann Michael Boltz (1.Hans1 ) b. about 1701, Eggenstein, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany, occupation: farmer, m. 19 Jun 1725, in Eggenstein, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany, Maria Barbara Lauten, (daughter of Michael Lauten and Barbara _?_) d. prior 1783, Lebanon Twp. Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania, . Johann died Jul? 1783, Lebanon Twp. Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania, religion: Lutheran.
Johann Michael, his wife, and 3 children applied to leave Germany in 1736 and again in 1737. This was found in the book PASSENGER & IMMIGRATION LIST INDEX, 1986-1990 Cummulation, Edited by P. Wm. Filby and Dorothy Lower, p.206. The source listed in the above book for Michael and family is in the German book, AUSWANDERUNGEN AUS BADEN AND DEM BREISGAU, by Werner Hacker, p.262. The family left Germany in 1737 and they were among the 180 Palatines that sailed from Amsterdam on the ship "William," via way of Dover, England with John Carter, Commander. The ship arrived in Philadelphia October 31, 1737, whereby the men took oaths to their new government.

Church records show that the family settled in Lebanon Township of Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania, a part which became Lebanon County in 1813. Tax records of 1771 show that Michael owned 160 acres, had 2 horses, and 3 cattle. Michael's name appears on p.149 LANCASTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA DEED ABSTRACTS & REVOLUTIONARY WAR OATHS OF ALLEGIANCE, List 384T (continuation of list starting L382T) showing he took the Oath of Allegiance. He became a citizen at Philadelphia August 14, 1763, as found on p.91 PERSONS NATURALIZED IN THE PROVINCE OF PENNSYLVANIA 1740-1773.

Michael wrote his will April 8, 1783, which discloses Barbara was deceased as she was not named. Six children were named, along with the daughter's husbands. The inventory of goods and chattels was appraised August 29, 1783 but was not exhibited in the Register's Office at Lancaster until November 4, 1784. The administrator's account was exhibited in the Register's Office March 2, 1784. The will was proved October 5, 1784 and is recorded in Lancaster Co. PA Will Book E, Vol.1, p.112.From these records it appears Michael died between April 8th and Aug. 29th in the year 1783.

The INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX, 1992 was researched for the name Lauten and the record said to look under the name Laut. A Maria Barbara Laut was christened 11 Mar 1701 at Wuertt Jagslkreis, Hohenberg Rosenberg Saukat. The parents were listed as Michael and Magdalena Laut. A Michael Laut was christened 18 Aug 1695 at the same place with the same parents. This is likely our Maria Barbara but further research is needed to determine this.
